Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division and Violent Crime Suppression Unit (VCSU) of Fair Oaks Police District have arrested a man following the abduction of a young girl in Fair Oaks.

The incident occurred on July 18 at 11:43 a.m. when officers responded to an abduction report at the 11700 block of Fair Oaks Shopping Center. A man had picked up a toddler near an indoor play area and walked away with her. The girl’s parent intervened on the second level of the mall, retrieving her unharmed before the suspect fled.

Patrol officers and detectives from both the Criminal Investigations Division and Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) quickly coordinated their efforts. The RTCC detectives identified the suspect as Andres Caceres Jaldin, 26, who has no fixed address.

Investigations revealed that Caceres Jaldin was staying at an Extended Stay hotel in Chantilly. While detectives were en route to the hotel, a nearby autobody repair shop reported a vehicle theft earlier that morning. Surveillance footage showed Caceres Jaldin stealing the car around 10 am before heading to the mall. Detectives located the stolen vehicle in the hotel’s parking lot and arrested Caceres Jaldin after he exited his room.

Caceres Jaldin faces charges of Abduction of a Minor and Grand Larceny – Auto Theft. He is currently held without bond at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

“This case is another clear example of how swift coordination between our Real Time Crime Center, detectives, and patrol officers leads to rapid identification and arrest of dangerous criminals,” stated police officials.

Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to contact their Criminal Investigation Division or submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone or web for potential cash rewards.

Victim specialists from Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division are providing resources and assistance to ensure support for the girl and her family.
