Annandale Healthcare Center was reported as Fairfax County’s largest nursing home for the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility was equipped with 222 beds in early 2026, exceeding the county average by 106 beds. During the first quarter, the center cared for an average of 210.1 residents per day.

The CMS assigned Annandale Healthcare Center an overall rating of 1 out of 5, falling below the Virginia nursing home average, which is 3.

Dulles Health & Rehab Center was next in size in the county with 166 beds, while Fair Oaks Health & Rehabilitation ranked third at 155 beds available in the first quarter of 2026.

As of Q1 2026, Annandale Healthcare Center incurred a total of $90,896 in one fine and has received one penalty.

Fairfax County, Virginia, had 11 for-profit nursing homes during this period.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show that America’s older adult cohort continues to rise as the population of younger age groups declines. From 2020 to 2024, citizens age 65 and up rose by 13%, while the under-18 category dropped by 1.7%. Over a century, the nation’s older population expanded considerably, increasing from 4.9 million in 1920 to above 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis concludes that close to half of older adults, equal to about 28 million, may need long-term services and supports. Projections also show that more than a third may ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
