Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Franconia Police District have made an arrest in connection with the aggravated assault of a bus driver in Lorton. The arrest was facilitated by tips submitted through Fairfax County Crime Solvers.

On July 8, at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to an assault report near Gunston Cove Road and Cranford Street in Lorton. The victim reported being assaulted by an unknown suspect while on his regular bus route. Despite searching the area, officers could not locate the suspect. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following press releases and canvassing efforts, detectives received tips that led them to identify the suspect as Javantai Johnson, 18, of Lorton. On July 19, detectives found Johnson in Loudoun County’s Stone Ridge neighborhood. Coordination between the Violent Crime Suppression Unit and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office resulted in Johnson’s arrest.

Johnson is now held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond on charges of Aggravated Malicious Wounding.

“This is another example of a case quickly closed thanks to relentless investigative work and community tips through Crime Solvers,” stated officials.
