Kim Taylor, a Delegate from Virginia, has expressed her condemnation of the politically motivated violence that occurred in Minnesota. She called for unity and prayers for those affected by the incident. The statement was made on X.

“As a legislator, I was horrified to hear of these senseless acts of violence committed over the weekend in Minnesota,” said Taylor. “I stand with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in condemning politically-motivated violence of any kind.”

In June 2025, Minnesota experienced a politically motivated attack resulting in the deaths of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were critically injured in the same incident. This event prompted widespread official condemnation and calls for stronger protections for public officials, as reported by AP News.

According to Time, political violence against public officials reached record levels in 2024, with nearly 9,500 threats and 51 violent incidents reported nationwide. These figures represent the highest levels since the 1970s and include the recent shootings in Minnesota.

The Council of State Governments reports that Minnesota’s bipartisan response to the attack includes formal condemnations and new proposals aimed at boosting security. These measures mirror steps taken in other states where similar attacks have led to enhanced protections, mental health initiatives, and improved threat reporting systems.

Ballotpedia notes that Kim Taylor has served as a Virginia Delegate since 2021. Her focus is on public safety and education, supporting stronger law enforcement presence, school security measures, and emergency responses to prevent political and youth-targeted violence.
