Kim Taylor, Delegate of Virginia, said her efforts in Richmond focus on providing law enforcement with resources to address local crime.

“I had the honor of attending the Hopewell / Prince George Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 17 meeting and discuss the work I have accomplished in Richmond to supply our law enforcement with the tools to help combat crime in the local area,” said Taylor. “I want to thank our brave men and women in law enforcement who sacrifice so much to keep us safe!”

In 2025, Virginia lawmakers advanced multiple initiatives to strengthen local law enforcement, including House Bill 676, which proposed creating a Virginia Law-Enforcement Accreditation Center. According to the Virginia General Assembly’s Legislative Information System, the state also allocated $75 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds for law enforcement equipment and training grants. These efforts reflect a bipartisan push to enhance public safety infrastructure across Virginia.

Hopewell, Virginia, reported a violent crime rate of 539 per 100,000 residents in 2024, which is 45.6% higher than the national average. According to AreaVibes, the city also faced elevated property crime levels, recording 18 incidents per 1,000 people. These statistics underscore the resource demands placed on local law enforcement and the community’s need for continued public safety investments.

Prince George’s County recorded 113 homicides in 2024, representing a 5% decline from the previous year. As reported by Afro News, the county also saw a 2% drop in overall violent crime and a 33% reduction in carjackings, with cases falling from 550 in 2023 to 340 in 2024. These improvements suggest that investments in law enforcement and community outreach are having a measurable impact.

Taylor, a Republican representing Virginia’s 82nd District since 2024, brings a small business background to her role in the House of Delegates. According to BillTrack50 and her campaign website, she has made public safety and economic development core issues, supporting legislation that enhances law enforcement capabilities and community security. She emphasizes limited government and local control in her policy approach.
