Detectives investigate fatal pedestrian crash in Lincolnia

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian incident that occurred in Lincolnia. The crash took place shortly after midnight on August 1 near the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Beauregard Street.

According to police, a 2003 Lincoln Town Car was traveling eastbound on Little River Turnpike when it struck a pedestrian identified as Angel Benito Matom Velasco, 19, of Alexandria. Velasco was in the eastbound lanes at the time of the collision. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.

Police have stated that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this case to contact their Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543. Tipsters may be eligible for cash rewards and can leave contact information if they wish to speak with detectives.
