Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department announced on Mar. 9 that they are investigating a robbery that took place in Reston and have released a composite sketch of the suspect.
The case is significant as police seek public assistance to identify the individual involved in the incident, which occurred on Feb. 16 at approximately 2:45 p.m. in the 12000 block of Edgemere Circle. According to police, the victim saw a man lying on the ground who appeared to be hurt. When the victim approached, the man jumped up, assaulted him, and stole his credit cards.
Police describe the suspect as an older white man with gray hair and a scraggly beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black puffer jacket with a black hood pulled up. Detectives have released a composite sketch to aid in identifying him.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact detectives at the Reston Police Station by calling 703-478-0904 or submitting tips anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone or web. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to support and provide resources for the victim during this investigation.
