Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted armed robbery at a Cricket Wireless store in Springfield, according to a March 2 announcement.

The request comes after an incident on February 23, when officers responded to a report of a robbery at 6330 Springfield Plaza. Police said that a man entered the business with a firearm and tried to steal merchandise. During the event, the suspect attempted to restrain customers but was overpowered by them before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.

Security footage capturing images of the suspect has been obtained by detectives. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 5. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone or web, and anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward. Those wishing for follow-up should leave their contact information.

Police encourage residents to register their security cameras with Connect Fairfax County to assist law enforcement in solving crimes and supporting investigations. Ongoing updates will be provided through official police blog posts and social media channels.
