Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Fairfax County Police Department are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in an indecent exposure case that occurred in Oakton.

According to police, officers responded to the area of Sprague Avenue and Hammersmith Lane on August 7 shortly after 9:00 a.m. following a report that an individual was seen masturbating between Hammersmith Lane and Finsbury Place. Officers canvassed the neighborhood but did not locate the suspect.

Investigators have since obtained security footage showing the individual they believe is responsible for the incident.

Police are asking anyone who can identify this person, recalls seeing him, or believes they may have been a victim of indecent exposure to contact the Fair Oaks District station at 703-591-0966 and request to speak with a detective. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477), online via their website, or by downloading the ‘P3 Tips’ App “Fairfax Co Crime Solvers”. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward. Those who want follow-up contact from detectives should leave their information when submitting tips.

The department reports that victim specialists from its Victim Services Division are working with the victim to provide resources and support.

Residents are encouraged to register their security cameras with Connect Fairfax County, which helps law enforcement solve crimes, find missing persons, and support ongoing investigations through community video sharing.
