Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has announced the appointment of Dr. Ellen Reilly as the new assistant superintendent for Instructional Services. Dr. Reilly, who is currently the principal of McLean High School, will take on this role following a 25-year career with FCPS.
Dr. Reilly’s career began as an instructional assistant for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, demonstrating her commitment to inclusive education and academic excellence. Her leadership roles have included serving as assistant principal at Oakton and Herndon high schools.
Since 2012, Dr. Reilly has been the principal of McLean High School, where she expanded Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment opportunities. Notably, she implemented AP Precalculus with a pass rate of 98.6%.
In addition to her school leadership experience, Dr. Reilly has held several division-wide leadership roles. She served as lead principal for grading and reporting, president of the FCPS High School Principals’ Association (HSPA), and chaired the Instructional Services/Instructional Technology Committee.
Her experience is expected to bring valuable insights from a school-based perspective to the Instructional Services Department at FCPS.
