Dranesville homeowners faced a property tax rate of 1% based on home values during the first quarter of 2026, according to BlockShopper.com. That amount is more than 1.1 times higher than the national average rate.

The area saw a median sales price of $800,000 for Dranesville homes in Q1 2026, according to data compiled from 29 transactions. For that period, the city’s typical property tax bill was $8,084, reflecting 1% of the median assessed home value.

The average effective property tax rate nationwide reached 0.888% in 2024.

Within Fairfax County, Idylwood, Woodburn, and Fair Lakes posted the top three highest property tax rates among local cities.
