Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) recently recognized several educators and staff members for their exceptional contributions to the school community through the FCPS Cares program. The initiative aims to acknowledge those who have made a significant impact on students and colleagues.

Jenica Bharucha from Langley High School was praised by a parent for her influence on their daughter’s outlook, noting, “Madame Bharucha is more than an excellent educator. She has shaped my daughter’s outlook and influenced her tremendously.”

David Kuhn, also from Langley High School, was commended for his leadership and teaching style. A parent shared that Mr. Kuhn “has forever changed the course of my daughter‘s life” and expressed gratitude for his dedication.

Katherine Pennington of Rose Hill Elementary School was recognized for ensuring that every student feels seen and appreciated. A parent noted her efforts: “She constantly works to ensure every single student feels seen and appreciate.”

Mary Wittrock from Langley High School received praise for her involvement with students both in French class and as a sponsor of the service club Delivering Hope. A parent highlighted her positive impact: “Madame Wittrock is such a compassionate and involved educator.”

Cheryl Clark at Bonnie Brae Elementary School was lauded for her enthusiasm and ability to connect with students. A parent described her as embodying what they imagine when thinking of “the best possible elementary teacher.”

Dennis Michaels from Fort Hunt Elementary School was acknowledged by Tracy Hutchison for his willingness to support the school community, stating, “Dennis always steps up to help out – whether he’s asked to or not.”

Sara Weiss-Cowie at Mount Eagle Elementary School was nominated by Sara Merino Paz for her role in managing attendance meetings with calmness and respect, making students feel valued.

Craig Primus of Chantilly High School was thanked by a parent for his personal attention to students, including sending thoughtful gestures like handwritten postcards.

Ashley Mies from Johnson Middle School was appreciated by Nutnichar Pansak for bringing enthusiasm to her role as a WAT teacher and supporting colleagues in special education.

Denise Meridieth at Gatehouse Admin Center was commended by Edwin Mata for her reliability and professionalism, becoming an essential part of the team.

Karen Wedekindt from Bull Run Elementary School received recognition from Patricia Lucas for going above and beyond in connecting with ML students through creative teaching methods.

These recognitions highlight the dedication of FCPS staff in fostering supportive educational environments across various schools within the district.
