Fairfax County announced on June 2 a series of events and activities to commemorate America’s 250th birthday, offering residents multiple ways to participate in the celebration. The county is marking this milestone with programs and festivities designed for all ages, highlighting the area’s historical significance.

Signature events for the semiquincentennial include the Fairfax County Brewfest: 250th Celebration Edition, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at Bunnyman Brewing in Chantilly. This event brings together local breweries in partnership with the Fairfax County 250th Commission to celebrate U.S. Independence with live music, special brews, and various activities.

Another major event is the Lake Fairfax Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 27 at Lake Fairfax Park. The day will feature live music, food trucks, family-friendly entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening, and will conclude with a synchronized drone light show.

In addition to these signature gatherings, residents are encouraged to explore self-guided activities such as participating in the History Trail Pass program. This initiative invites individuals to visit historic and cultural sites across Fairfax County; each check-in provides an entry into monthly prize drawings. Another ongoing activity is Fairfax250 Bingo at local public libraries. Participants can win prizes by completing bingo cards through engaging with local history or opt for a full card completion to receive collectible stickers featuring county landmarks.

The county advises residents interested in further opportunities or updated event listings to visit the official Fairfax250 website, where additional programs may be added throughout the year.
