The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), in collaboration with the Virginia State Police (VSP), has concluded the third phase of its Road Shark traffic safety campaign. This initiative aims to address aggressive driving behaviors, enhance road safety, and decrease traffic accidents.
During the campaign’s recent wave from June 16 to June 22, law enforcement issued over 8,433 citations and warnings. These included more than 514 citations for speeding and 167 for reckless driving. The figures underscore the need for ongoing focused enforcement to ensure driver accountability throughout Fairfax County.
The Road Shark campaign focuses on coordinated and strategic enforcement efforts designed to deter dangerous driving practices. By increasing patrols and visibility, FCPD officers along with VSP troopers strive to modify driver behavior, improve public safety, and safeguard lives on local roads.
“Thanks to the dedication of our officers and partners at VSP, Wave 3 made a measurable impact—and there’s more to come,” an official statement noted.
The fourth wave of Road Shark is scheduled to commence on August 4, 2025.
