Heat plans are typically activated by local governments when forecasts predict dangerously high temperatures that could pose health risks to vulnerable populations such as seniors or those without access to air conditioning. These measures often include opening designated cooling centers where residents can find relief from extreme heat.

The county’s call for feedback on its Draft Area Plan reflects ongoing efforts to involve residents in planning services related to nutrition, caregiving support, transportation options, and volunteer opportunities targeted at older adults.
