Fairfax County Government posted a series of updates on September 9, 2025, addressing community initiatives and public services. The announcements included a food drive event, voting accessibility information, and improvements at a local waste transfer station.

In its first message, Fairfax County Government invited residents to participate in an upcoming food drive. On September 9, 2025, the county posted: “Help us Stuff the Bus to fight food insecurity on Saturday, Sept. 13, during this one-day food drive! Fastran buses & County Fire trucks at multiple locations 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donate non-perishable food or gift cards to support pantries https://t.co/6kcO96ycQs https://t.co/gfpIc2CdUG”. The event will take place at various locations with Fastran buses and county fire trucks collecting donations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Later that day, the county shared information about accessible voting options for eligible residents: “#DYK Curbside voting is available for voters with a disability or who are 65 or older. When you arrive, look for the ‘Curbside Voting’ sign near the accessible parking area. Call the phone number on the sign to contact an election officer https://t.co/tB4mXDLLIV https://t.co/FvwCQ6KOn1” (September 9, 2025). This service aims to facilitate voting for seniors and individuals with disabilities by allowing them to vote from their vehicles.

In another update on September 9, Fairfax County Government announced an upgrade at a local facility: “#ICYMI The I-66 Transfer Station has a brand-new scale to weigh your collectors’ loads! This means shorter lines and a more efficient drop-off process for your service provider. For details, visit https://t.co/JEJpFtyRwX https://t.co/v2hq4ksJQj”. The new scale is expected to improve efficiency and reduce wait times for users of the I-66 Transfer Station.

Fairfax County frequently holds “Stuff the Bus” events as part of ongoing efforts to address local food insecurity by collecting donations that benefit area food pantries and charitable organizations. The curbside voting option aligns with broader initiatives across Virginia and other states aimed at improving accessibility for elderly voters and those with mobility challenges.
