Fairfax County Government recently shared several updates through its social media platform. The posts covered a range of topics, including community engagement with first responders, budgetary changes, and health services provided by the county.

On May 13, 2025, Fairfax County Government announced upcoming “911 Improvement Focus Groups”. These focus group meetings will be held at local libraries to discuss community relationships with first responders. The sessions aim to identify challenges, needs, and opportunities for improvement in these interactions.

Later on the same day, Fairfax County reported that “Our Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2026 budget today”. This new budget includes a quarter-cent reduction in the real estate tax rate and introduces a new 4% tax on prepared food and beverages starting January 1, 2026. The changes are set to take effect on July 1.

On May 14, the government highlighted an initiative by their Health Department’s Speech and Hearing program. Throughout May, trained personnel will provide free screenings and workshops at various county libraries. This was shared in their post stating “Throughout May, trained personnel from our Health Department’s Speech and Hearing program will offer free screenings and workshops at several county libraries”.
