Fairfax County Government posted a series of updates on its official Twitter account between February 22 and February 24, 2026, informing the public about government closures, personnel policies, and notable achievements in local education.

On February 22, Fairfax County Government announced that “Fairfax County Government will be CLOSED on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. Emergency administrative leave is granted for county employees not designated as emergency personnel. Emergency personnel should report as scheduled. For more information, visit https://t.co/84osIJJ33G https://t.co/dpXqlz1Tnx”. This closure affects most county employees except those classified as emergency personnel.

Two days later, on February 24, the government highlighted an educational milestone: “#ICYMI Thomas Jefferson HS for Science & Technology is renowned worldwide for its academic achievements. Now, it can add another honor to its roll – appointing the first female head coaches to lead baseball & football high school varsity teams in VA https://t.co/k0f29cJ5Hg https://t.co/0uMx9kJ3aE”.

Later that same day, Fairfax County issued a service update: “Reminder: Pennino Building Closed Temporarily; Reopening Date to Be Determined If you have an appointment, please reschedule. Walk-in services are unavailable at this time, but many services are available online https://t.co/msqot7w5Ew https://t.co/0WMDEKBJOS”.
