Fairfax County Government posted a series of updates on its official Twitter account between December 2 and December 3, 2025, highlighting new public services and support resources for residents.

On December 2, Fairfax County Government encouraged residents to subscribe to its alert system: ” Stay in the know and sign up for alerts today! • Pick from weather, traffic, public safety, taxes and more • Get geo-targeted weather alerts • Choose up to 10 delivery methods, including cell phone, email, text messaging More: https://t.co/5pfGpMiDzv https://t.co/FfzapeWo14″. The county’s alert system allows users to select from various notification topics such as weather, traffic, and public safety. Residents can also choose multiple delivery methods for receiving these notifications.

Later that day, the county announced a new resource aimed at addressing food insecurity: “#ICYMI Our county developed a new tool to help people support food distributions in their communities The Emergency Food Access Providers Application allows users to see which distribution sites need donations and the types of donations Check it out: https://t.co/CJ3sUGZCQo https://t.co/zoDKBr5C6Z” (December 2). This application provides information about local food distribution sites and details on what types of donations are needed.

On December 3, Fairfax County Government shared information about mental health resources during the holiday season: “The holidays are a festive time, but this season may also be difficult for many who have experienced loss or are simply alone If you are in danger, please call 911. You can call/text the 988 Lifeline for mental health care support 24 hours a day More: https://t.co/4RY9fHHJJN https://t.co/h70umQxlKc”. The message emphasized that while holidays can be celebratory for some people, they may also present challenges for those dealing with loss or isolation. It directed individuals in crisis to emergency services or the national mental health hotline.

Fairfax County is one of Virginia’s most populous counties and has implemented several digital tools over recent years to improve access to critical information and community resources. Local governments across the United States have increasingly used technology platforms to provide real-time alerts and facilitate community engagement on issues such as public safety and social services.
