Fairfax County Government has issued several public reminders and announcements on its official Twitter account ahead of the upcoming school year and community events.

On August 13, 2025, Fairfax County Government posted a message highlighting important road safety measures as schools prepare to reopen. The tweet stated: “.@fcpsnews and many private schools resume next week. There are road rules to pay attention to, including: Stop for school buses Slow down in school zones Watch for crossing guards Details: https://t.co/JnhdQMLWpR #FirstDayFairfax https://t.co/0NvnWXVbdm”

The following day, on August 14, the county government promoted an educational event about solar energy. In its tweet, it wrote: “Join Solar United Neighbors on August 19 for a Solar 101 webinar Learn about solar energy and its benefits for your home, or small business. They’ll take you through the technology, economics, financing and more. Register now: https://t.co/K35wIpP69w #GoSolar #SwitchTogether https://t.co/q5pUFVmPBV”

Later that same day, Fairfax County Government reminded parents about preparing children for the start of classes by adjusting their sleep routines. The post read: “Now is the time to get your children’s sleep schedules back on track Gradually work toward setting an earlier bedtime each night to ease them into their school schedule. This way getting up for #FirstDayFairfax won’t be so hard! https://t.co/P93l0QZLWa”

These messages coincide with the annual return to school period in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and local private institutions. Each year around late August, families in Fairfax County prepare for the academic calendar’s start by attending orientation events and ensuring students are ready for new routines.

In addition to back-to-school preparations, community organizations such as Solar United Neighbors regularly partner with local governments to offer informational sessions aimed at increasing residential adoption of renewable energy technologies.
