Fairfax County Government shared several public service announcements on its official Twitter account on May 26, 2026. The tweets focused on health and safety tips for residents, as well as promoting a local community event.

In a tweet posted at 12:35 p.m., Fairfax County Government outlined steps to avoid tick bites, stating, “Ways to Prevent Tick Bites

1. Know where to find ticks.
2. Use permethrin on clothing & gear.
3. Check your body for ticks after being outdoors.
4. Shower within two hours of coming indoors.”
The post also provided a link to further resources.

Later in the day, at 2:45 p.m., the county reminded residents about local wildlife activity during spring and early summer: “May through July is nesting season for many turtle species.

If you come across a turtle in the road and it is safe for you to do so, gently move the turtle in the direction it was heading. Do not relocate it to a different area, even if it seems safer.” This advice reflects standard conservation guidance during turtle nesting season.

The government also promoted an upcoming community event with a tweet at 6:05 p.m.: “Don’t miss the paw-tay!

Braddock Bark offers fun for everyone. Join us this Saturday, May 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. for adoption opportunities, local pet nonprofit and business booths, a doggy splash zone, food vendors and more! Details:” followed by an informational link.

Fairfax County Government frequently uses its social media channels to provide seasonal safety information and highlight local events aimed at engaging the community.
