The Fairfax County Government has recently shared a series of tweets addressing important community updates and historical commemorations. These posts aim to inform residents about safety measures, holiday schedules, and significant historical events.

On June 18, 2025, the Fairfax County Government advised residents to “Prepare for Extreme Heat This Summer”. The tweet provided essential resources such as heat safety tips, a Cooling Center locator, information on protecting vulnerable populations, and Fairfax Alerts to help the community stay safe during extreme heat days.

The following day, on June 19, 2025, the county announced that “County Government will be closed on Thursday, June 19, for Juneteenth.” The message clarified that while some facilities would remain open with varying schedules, further details could be accessed through a provided link.

Additionally, on the same day of June 19, 2025, the government shared a post reflecting on the significance of Juneteenth. They highlighted that “On June 19, 1865”, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom following the Civil War’s end and President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. This historic date is celebrated as Juneteenth.

Fairfax County is located in Virginia and serves as one of its most populous counties.
