The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) have announced a range of summer resources aimed at keeping students engaged and prepared for the upcoming school year. These resources span various areas including educational programs, recreational activities, health services, and mental wellness support.

Family Academy will offer in-person and virtual classes focusing on topics such as co-parenting, family orientation for FCPS, Lexia summer learning resources, essential life skills, and more. Additionally, there are opportunities for summer learning through FCPS camps and enrichment programs.

One highlight is the Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt starting June 1. Participants will solve puzzles leading to locations within Fairfax County with further clues provided for the final puzzle. More details can be found on the hunt’s How to Play page.

For those interested in reading, the Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Adventure runs from June 11 to August 17. Both children and adults can earn badges and win prizes by engaging in reading-related activities. The Children’s Summer Reading Festival is scheduled for June 14 at the Sherwood Regional Library.

Various camps are available including Camp Fairfax for rising first through seventh graders, along with offerings from the Fairfax Park Authority. Volunteer opportunities are also compiled by Volunteer Fairfax for community service engagement.

Health services include ensuring that children’s immunizations are up to date before school resumes. Immunization documentation must be submitted via the FCPS website. Clinics like Inova Cares Clinic for Families provide vaccinations to qualifying patients without insurance or under financial assistance programs.

Mental health resources are accessible through virtual consultations with school psychologists or social workers until August 5. High school students can access free virtual therapy sessions while youth mental health services are available from the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.

Meal distribution sites will be announced soon; however, no-cost meals will be available during summer school programs for all attending FCPS students.
