The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is actively engaging with the community through a variety of events and programs. These initiatives aim to enhance public safety, prevent crime, and strengthen relationships between residents and local first responders.
Several events are scheduled for this week. On Saturday, May 17, “Stock the Block” will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mount Vernon, located at 8350 Richmond Highway in Alexandria. A car seat inspection event is also planned for the same day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mason, situated at 6507 Columbia Pike in Annandale.
On Wednesday, May 21, “Coffee with a Cop” will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by “Storytime at Reston Library” from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., both occurring in Mason and Reston respectively. The Sully Neighborhood College event is scheduled for later that evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., along with Community Advisory Committee meetings in Franconia and Mount Vernon from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

FCPD also offers several programs aimed at youth and young adults interested in law enforcement careers:
– The Police Leaders of Tomorrow program runs from June 23-27 and is open to young adults aged between 18-24 years in the Metro Washington area.
– The Teen Police Academy takes place July 14-18 for students entering grades ten through twelve during the upcoming school year.
– Future Women Leaders in Law Enforcement will occur July 28-August 1 for female students entering grades ten through twelve.
Additionally, two recruiting events are set: Virginia State Police Career Fair on May 17 from noon until two o’clock at Alliance Drive in Fairfax; Just-in-Time Hiring Fair happening May19 between one o’clock till four afternoon inside Dewberry Hall Johnson Center George Mason University premises.
