The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is actively engaging with the community by participating in and hosting various events aimed at enhancing public safety, preventing crime, and building stronger relationships with local first responders.

Among the scheduled events this week are car seat inspection events on May 2 and May 3 at Fair Oaks and West Springfield, respectively. On May 6, there will be a Kia & Hyundai steering wheel lock giveaway in Reston from 2 pm to 4 pm. Additionally, Community Advisory Committee meetings are set for Mason and West Springfield on the same day during the evening hours.

For those interested in more casual interaction, “Breakfast with a Cop” is planned for May 7 in Mason. A Community Advisory Committee meeting will also take place in McLean on May 8.

To stay informed about these events and others, residents are encouraged to contact their local police district station or sign up on Nextdoor to receive updates directly from FCPD.

In addition to weekly events, FCPD offers several programs for youth and young adults. The Police Leaders of Tomorrow program is open to individuals aged 18-24 within the Metro Washington area from June 23-27. The Teen Police Academy is available from July 14-18 for students entering grades 10 through 12 during the upcoming school year. Future Women Leaders in Law Enforcement will run from July 28-August 1 for future female leaders entering similar grades.

A recruiting event is also scheduled at the National Museum of the United States Army on May 7.

Residents can further assist law enforcement by registering their cameras with Connect Fairfax County to help solve crimes and locate missing persons.
