The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) has been utilizing advanced technology through its Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) to improve public safety in the National Capital Region. The RTCC, operational since April 2024, is the first of its kind in Northern Virginia and operates around the clock with a team consisting of one Commander, two supervisors, six detectives, and one investigative aide.

The center acts as a central hub for integrating various data and technology systems. It uses license plate reader data, community-based camera feeds, and advanced analytics to aid real-time investigations. By working closely with patrol officers, the RTCC assists in identifying and locating suspects and victims during ongoing incidents.

Since it began operations, the RTCC has contributed to over 6,500 cases across the region. In early 2025 alone, it received more than 120 Crime Solvers tips and helped facilitate payments exceeding $5,000 to community members whose information was instrumental in resolving active cases.

“The Real Time Crime Center is a force multiplier for the department,” stated an FCPD representative. “Enhancing our response capabilities enables officers on the ground to make better-informed decisions faster.”

The FCPD encourages residents to register their cameras with Connect Fairfax County to assist in solving crimes and supporting investigations. For updates on their initiatives, FCPD can be followed on social media platforms such as X, Facebook, and Instagram at @FairfaxCountyPD.
