Fairfax County is providing free counseling and clinical services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking. These services are offered through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (DSVS) program under the Department of Family Services. The initiative aims to support both victims and their families in recovering from trauma while also offering treatment programs for those who cause harm.
The DSVS program offers various forms of support including individual counseling, family therapy, and group counseling sessions for people aged four and above. “We offer services in English and Spanish with highly qualified trauma-informed therapists,” stated Melody Vielbig, clinical services program manager for DSVS. She added that “this is a brief treatment model, generally somewhere between 10 and 12 sessions that supports those who are impacted by domestic and sexual violence.”
These counseling services are available at no cost to Fairfax County residents or anyone affected within the county. Sessions can be conducted in person at different locations throughout the county or virtually via telehealth options.
