Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has announced two new appointments to its leadership team. Dr. Jameile Choice has been appointed as the Region Assistant Superintendent for Region 1, while Mr. Erik Gordon will take on the role of Chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs.

Dr. Choice joins FCPS with over 15 years of experience in public education, most recently serving as the Executive Director of Transformation and Innovation at Dallas ISD, one of Texas’ largest school divisions. He is recognized for his advocacy for equity, innovation, and academic excellence. Dr. Choice has led various school models including Montessori, magnet, IB, and single-gender campuses, achieving significant academic improvements under his leadership.

“Dr. Choice has deep knowledge in areas such as instructional leadership, restorative practices, and systemic school improvement,” stated FCPS officials. His commitment to providing quality education to all students is evident through his focus on collaborative relationships with principals, educators, families, and the community.

Mr. Erik Gordon brings a wealth of experience from both federal and private sectors to his new role at FCPS. Known for his expertise in facilities program management and strategic planning, Mr. Gordon’s career includes a 30-year tenure with the United States Army followed by work with Raytheon Technologies (RTX). In June 2022 he joined the Department of State (DOS) as a Division Chief within the Office of Facilities Management Services (FMS), later becoming Office Director for the Design and Construction Directorate in March 2025.

“Mr. Gordon is a lifelong learner who holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute,” said FCPS representatives about his educational background which also includes advanced degrees from Southern Methodist University and the U.S. Army War College.

Both appointments reflect FCPS’s commitment to enhancing its leadership team with experienced professionals dedicated to fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.
