Fairfax County Public Schools continues its comprehensive boundary review process, with recent updates shared following the Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee meeting held on August 5 at the Gatehouse Administration Center.

The committee’s consultant welcomed members and discussed the project timeline, noting that community meetings are set to begin in mid-October. An upcoming advisory committee session in early September will include a transportation analysis to support ongoing discussions.

During the meeting, the consultant presented an overview of analyses conducted so far regarding FCPS programming, highlighting key themes that have emerged. Members divided into subgroups to discuss and present their top three priorities for the boundary review. These priorities were then shared with the full committee to identify common themes.

Dr. Michelle C. Reid closed the meeting by emphasizing the importance of attendance as the group works toward developing a plan over the next five months. She urged committee members to participate in scheduled community meetings during October and November.

Community feedback from spring meetings, collected via the Pigeonhole platform, is now available on the school system’s website and organized by region. More than 13,000 additional comments submitted through other online tools are being processed for upload. Feedback submitted via primary communications platforms will continue to be shared with both the committee and consultant until August 20 at 11:59 p.m., which will inform future draft scenarios.

Looking ahead, refined boundary scenarios will be added to the Boundary Explorer Tool in fall 2025 for further community input during another series of public meetings. The consultant plans to develop final scenarios in November and December for committee review before recommendations are made to Superintendent Dr. Reid.

Dr. Reid stated: “I will consider the committee’s recommendations, and based on my review, I will present recommendations and a proposed implementation plan to the Fairfax County School Board in January 2026.”

No boundary changes have been proposed for the 2025-26 school year at this time.

Community members are encouraged to learn more about the comprehensive boundary review process and sign up for related newsletters through Fairfax County Public Schools’ official channels.
