Dr. Michelle Reid, superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools, shared her weekly reflections with staff on April 6, focusing on the importance of rest and renewal during spring break.

Reid acknowledged that many in the school community were enjoying time off and encouraged everyone to continue making the most of the holiday weekend. She said she was keeping her message brief so staff could enjoy their time away.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the school year, Reid said she looks forward to supporting students as they complete the final months. She reflected on accomplishments achieved over recent years and credited staff for their dedication and thoughtful planning across various roles within the division.

Reid also emphasized how spring symbolizes positive change and growth. “In many ways, spring is a season that reminds us how wonderful change and growth can be. We have a great deal to celebrate. Together, all things are possible…” she said.

She concluded her message by sharing a quote from Charlotte Brontë: “Spring drew on…and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which, freshening daily, suggested the thought that hope traversed them at night and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.” Reid wished everyone an enjoyable end to spring break and expressed optimism for days ahead.
