Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has provided an update on its ongoing Comprehensive Boundary Review following a meeting of the Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee. The meeting, held on June 23, 2025, reviewed feedback from Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings.

The community meetings involved discussions on three draft scenarios with no boundary changes proposed for the upcoming school year. More than 1,500 staff, families, and community members participated in eight hybrid meetings across the division.

Dr. Michelle C. Reid expressed gratitude for the engagement during these sessions: “Our school communities are strongest when we come together to shape a thriving future for our students.”

Key data reviewed included over 3,400 comments collected via the Pigeonhole platform and more than 5,800 comments submitted through the FCPS Boundary Explorer Tool between May 15 and June 10.

The advisory committee discussed top priorities in regional and divisionwide subgroups before sharing insights as a collective group. They also reflected on community feedback received during previous meetings.

Next steps include further subgroup work to refine priorities by July 7 and continued information sharing throughout the summer. The committee is scheduled to reconvene on August 5.

Future phases involve additional community meetings in fall where updated boundary scenarios will be presented based on feedback. Final recommendations are expected to be developed by December with Superintendent Reid presenting proposals to the Fairfax County School Board in January 2026.

Community members are encouraged to continue providing input through online tools and can find more information on FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review webpage.

“Thank you again for your continued involvement in this important process; it matters,” Dr. Reid concluded.
