Fairfax County is inviting community members to participate in a survey that will influence future planning for the Fair Lakes area. Residents, workers, and visitors are encouraged to provide feedback through the survey available until June 30. This input will contribute to setting goals and priorities for potential growth and changes in Fair Lakes.

The survey is part of a comprehensive study of Fairfax County’s Comprehensive Plan, which addresses land use and development decisions. Fair Lakes, located within the Fairfax Center Area, includes office spaces, residential areas, and commercial zones such as the Fair Lakes Shopping Center. The area’s current plan, referred to as Sub-unit E1, has not been fully updated for nearly two decades.

Additional opportunities for community involvement will be provided as the study progresses. Interested parties can sign up for updates on project developments and upcoming community meetings.

The next phase of the study will evaluate potential changes to land use and development recommendations specific to Fair Lakes. This stage is expected to commence in late 2025. Any proposed changes will undergo consideration by the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors during public hearings at the study’s conclusion.

A previous phase focused on site-specific recommendations for two sites within Fair Lakes, resulting in one new recommendation adoption and minor editorial revisions to Sub-unit E1 guidance.

For more information or to participate in shaping Fair Lakes’ future, visit the study’s webpage.
