Fairfax County provides a range of resources for family caregivers looking after loved ones with serious health conditions. For those seeking guidance, the Aging, Disability and Caregiver Resources Line is available at 703-324-7948, TTY 711.

To address basic needs, Fairfax County Public Assistance and Employment Services (PAES) offers information on food assistance. Homebound adults over 60 or those with disabilities can inquire about the Home Delivered Meals Program through the same contact line.

Transportation options are available for older adults and individuals with disabilities to attend medical appointments. Medicaid may also cover transportation services for qualifying individuals.

For employment changes due to health conditions, PAES provides support in accessing food, medical, financial, and energy assistance programs.

Education resources from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) include Homebound Instruction for children unable to attend school and support for students returning after an extended absence.

Respite care options offer temporary relief for primary caregivers. The Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program reimburses caregivers for short-term care costs. Inova ElderLink provides up to six hours per week of in-home care services for eligible clients. More information is available by calling the ElderLink Intake Line at 703-324-5374, TTY 711.

Health and medical needs are supported through vaccination information and access to healthcare resources. Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus Services (CCC+) offers Medicaid Waiver services for medically fragile children. For mental health support, the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) offers various services and emergency support at their Sharon Bulova Center location.

Proper disposal of medical waste is crucial when caring for someone at home. Guidance on disposing of sharps, human waste materials, unused medicines, bodily fluids, and other medical waste is provided by the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services.
