Detectives in Fairfax County, Virginia, are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in package thefts in Annandale and Springfield. The incidents occurred on June 17, with the first report at 10:30 a.m. from the 6300 block of Alberta Street in Springfield. A victim reported that after receiving a package containing electronics, an unknown individual stole it and left the scene on an electric scooter.

Later that day, at 3:37 p.m., officers responded to another theft report from the 3900 block of Shelley Lane in Annandale. In this case, a similar incident was described where a package was stolen by a suspect who also fled using an electric scooter. Detectives believe these thefts are connected and have taken over the investigation.

Authorities have released photos of the suspect and urge anyone with information to contact either the West Springfield Police Station at 703-644-7377 or the Mason Police Station at 703-256-8035 to speak with a detective. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Solvers by calling 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477) or via their website. The police department has shared several tips to prevent package thefts:

1. Have packages delivered to secure locations like workplaces or trusted neighbors.
2. Use package lockers or opt for in-store pickup when possible.
3. Install video doorbells or security cameras for porch monitoring.
4. Sign up for delivery alerts and promptly retrieve packages.
5. Request delivery signatures for valuable items.
6. Arrange delivery holds or ask someone to collect packages if out of town.
