Falls Church City Public Schools announced on Apr. 21 the recipients of its 2026 employee awards, recognizing four staff members for their dedication and contributions to the school community.

The annual awards highlight the important role that employees play in supporting students and ensuring a positive educational environment. Honorees are selected by a panel of judges who review nominations and vote on the finalists.

This year’s Academic Support Staff Employee of the Year is Brannon McLaughlin, Assistant to the Director at Jessie Thackrey Preschool. Roberto Fuentes, who serves as a divisionwide custodian, was named Operations Support Staff Employee of the Year. Josh Singer, International Baccalaureate Diploma Coordinator at Meridian High School, received recognition as Professional Specialist of the Year. The Falls Church Education Foundation Teacher of the Year award went to Kieran Shakeshaft, Individuals & Societies Teacher at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.

Each recipient will receive a monetary gift from the Falls Church Education Foundation in celebration of their achievement. They will be honored during a reception and recognition event at Falls Church City Hall on Tuesday, May 12, with festivities beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by official recognition during the School Board meeting at 7:00 p.m.

The announcement reflects ongoing efforts by Falls Church City Public Schools to celebrate staff achievements and reinforce their commitment to educational excellence.
