Fairfax County, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) has announced the continuation of its 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative with the launch of “Safe July.” This initiative aims to maintain Fairfax County’s status as one of the safest communities in the nation through a proactive approach.

The three-month initiative, running from June to August, addresses seasonal crime trends using data-informed strategies and targeted deployment. In collaboration with the department’s Crime Analysis Unit, each month focuses on a specific area to enhance community safety and address emerging concerns.

For July, the Safe July campaign is centered on reducing impaired driving and promoting safe driving behaviors throughout Fairfax County. As celebrations increase over the holiday period, road safety remains a top priority for FCPD.

To support this effort, FCPD is implementing several measures:

Enhanced DWI Enforcement: Officers from all eight district stations are working with the DWI Enforcement Squad to increase enforcement efforts. Resources are strategically deployed in areas identified by crime analysts as high-risk for impaired driving incidents.

Data-Informed Deployment: Patrol and traffic units will be positioned based on analysis of impaired driving trends to ensure effective enforcement where it can have a greater impact.

Community Awareness: FCPD will engage with community members through outreach efforts and social media to highlight the dangers and consequences of impaired driving. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead for safe rides home.

The objective of Safe July is to deter impaired driving and improve traffic safety for all residents and visitors in Fairfax County during this busy holiday season.

As part of its ongoing Summer Crime Prevention Initiative, FCPD aims to achieve impactful results throughout the summer months. The department continues its commitment to reducing crime and enhancing public safety through strategic prevention and focused enforcement.

Residents are encouraged to register their cameras with Connect Fairfax County to aid FCPD in solving crimes, locating missing people, and supporting investigations. For updates, follow FCPD’s blog or social media accounts at @FairfaxCountyPD on X, Facebook, and Instagram.
