Fairfax County Public Schools announced on June 1 that several staff members and educators have been recognized through the FCPS Cares program for their outstanding contributions during the past school year.

Rachel Perella from Willow Oaks Admin Center was highlighted for her work with Behavior Intervention Services. “Throughout the past school year, Rachel Perella has truly been an invaluable asset to Behavior Intervention Services. Her mastery of the CPS model and her knack for creating accessible, high-quality instructional tools have greatly elevated our professional development. Rachel has become a trusted leader and a go-to resource for her colleagues, creating a warm and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. From managing the county-wide Mandt training schedule to championing inclusive practices, Rachel’s proactive leadership has made a meaningful difference for both staff and students alike,” said Lori Kraden of Willow Oaks Admin Center.

A group of teachers and staff at Lake Braddock Secondary—Mike Dougherty, Gerald Bodner, Paul Wardinski, Dennis Adams, Martin Gross, and Jean Burneo—were also recognized by a parent who said, “Ms. Burneo, Mr. Gross, Mr. Adams, Mr. Wardinski, Mr. Bodner, and Mr. Dougherty have all been instrumental in guiding and educating our son in his senior year at Lake Braddock High School. We want to sincerely thank, extend our appreciation, and recognize these teachers and staff for the time and attention they have devoted to our son.
