Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and Educate Fairfax organized their first Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Herndon High School, serving more than 150 meals in one hour. The event welcomed students and their families, aiming to foster community connections through shared meals. Nearly 100 additional meals were provided at Justice High School as part of the initiative.

The menu included an entree, side dishes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dessert. Students received complimentary meals through the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) At-Risk After School Meals Program. Adults were also offered free meals due to a donation from Educate Fairfax.

In a statement from FCPS, the district expressed appreciation for the opportunity to bring together students, families, and staff during the holiday season: “FCPS is grateful to host these community dinners to celebrate the season together and continue building vibrant home, school, and community partnerships. Thank you to the dedicated FNS staff and our community partners for their efforts in providing meals to our students and families!”

The series of Community Thanksgiving Dinners will continue with events scheduled at Mount Vernon High School and Annandale High School from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25.
