Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a fatal stabbing in Groveton that resulted in the death of a man. On June 10, at 1:55 p.m., officers responded to a call about a stabbing incident at Richmond Highway and North Kings Highway. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with multiple stab wounds to the upper body lying on the road. Officers attempted life-saving measures until fire and rescue personnel took over. The victim, identified as Marvin Waters, 32, who had no fixed address, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Detectives believe that an altercation between the suspect and victim occurred at a bus stop and consider it an isolated incident. The suspect is described as a tall Black male wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, carrying a black backpack, and having facial hair.

The investigation continues, and detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed or has knowledge of the incident. Individuals can contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2, or submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477) or online via their website. Anonymity is assured for tipsters who may also be eligible for cash rewards.

Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division are providing support to ensure that Waters’ family receives necessary resources and assistance.
