Special agents from ICE Homeland Security Investigations, in collaboration with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, have arrested David Perez-Teofani, a 35-year-old Mexican national. The arrest took place near the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on August 20. Perez-Teofani was previously charged with sex crimes against a child in Virginia.
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS Assistant Secretary, commented on the arrest: “David Perez-Teofani caused a scene by screaming and crying crocodile tears for everyone to see at the scene of his arrest, but we have no sympathy for accused pedophiles and immigration offenders.” She further said that under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, there is an effort to remove such criminals from the streets.
Perez-Teofani had illegally entered the United States without inspection or admission by immigration officials. He was first encountered by U.S. immigration officials on September 26, 2014, leading to an expedited removal order. He was deported to Mexico on November 9, 2014. However, he attempted to reenter the U.S. using a false identity at San Ysidro port of entry in California just days later. After being arrested again, he was removed from the country on November 23, 2014.
Despite these actions, Perez-Teofani managed to reenter the United States illegally once more. On January 30, 2024, Fairfax County Police arrested him for felony indecent liberties-proposed sex acts and aggravated sexual battery involving a victim under 13 years old. An immigration detainer was lodged against him by ICE Washington D.C., but it was not honored by the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Although local authorities decided not to prosecute Perez-Teofani for indecent liberties charges, ICE intends to proceed with his removal from the country.
