Fairfax County Police announced on Mar. 19 the arrest of Richard Huerta, a 28-year-old Kingstowne resident and Hayfield Secondary School Assistant Track Coach, on ten counts of possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Police said detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Child Exploitation Unit began investigating Huerta after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating he may have been in possession of CSAM. The investigation included executing multiple search warrants and led to the discovery of electronic evidence linked to Huerta.
Huerta was arrested at his home in Kingstowne and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with ten counts related to CSAM possession. Authorities reported that he is being held without bond.
According to police, Huerta has served as an Assistant Coach with Fairfax County Public Schools since August 2025. The school system is now moving forward with terminating his contract, and officials confirmed he will not return to Hayfield Secondary School.
