Land Development Services (LDS) has launched a new Geographic Information Systems (GIS) home page that brings together all of its online mapping tools in one location. The department has rebuilt each tool using a modern system, resulting in changes to some of the web addresses for these resources.

The updated mapping applications now available include the Site Records Viewer, which provides access to site-related records, plans, and historical development information; the Flood Risk Awareness Tool, which allows users to view potential flood risks that may affect properties and development decisions; and the Watersheds & Resource Protection Areas Viewer, which helps identify watershed boundaries and resource protection areas relevant to land development.

These applications are used by residents, engineers, surveyors, planners, and other stakeholders. LDS is encouraging users to update their bookmarks and saved links to reflect the new GIS home page and application URLs. Outdated LDS GIS links on websites, documents, and shared resources should also be replaced.

The previous versions of these mapping tools will be retired soon and may not function as expected going forward.

Questions can be directed to LDSGIS@FairfaxCounty.gov.
