Detectives in the Mount Vernon Police District have apprehended a man in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred in Woodland Park. Officers responded on April 26 at 8:10 a.m. to the 3100 block of Woodland Lane, where they found an adult male with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

Initial investigations revealed the incident followed a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect, Danny Swithenbank, aged 64, from Alexandria. The dispute concerned the delivery of a portable storage container. Responding officers promptly detained Swithenbank.

Swithenbank faces charges of Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond. A search warrant executed at his residence led to the recovery of several firearms.

The police request assistance from anyone with information about the incident. They can contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2, or submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Anonymous tips make tipsters eligible for cash rewards.
