Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police District have charged Anthony Edwards, a Maryland man, after he allegedly committed an armed robbery at a convenience store in Huntington. The incident took place on April 24 at 11:49 a.m., when officers responded to the 2400 block of Fairhaven Ave following a robbery report. A witness claimed that the suspect entered the store with a firearm and began stealing items. An attempt by a community member to apprehend the robber was unsuccessful, but fortunately, no one was injured during the event.

The officers quickly established a perimeter and began their search for the suspect. Through a neighborhood search, detectives discovered that the suspect might have trespassed into an unoccupied home in the 2400 block of Byrd Lane. The Special Operation Division was deployed and, after three hours, Edwards was found hiding in the attic of the residence.

Investigators linked Edwards to a previous robbery that occurred on April 4 at the same store. Edwards has been transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and faces multiple charges, including two counts of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and burglary. He is currently being held without bond.

Detectives are seeking additional information from the public about this case. They encourage anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 5, or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477).
