Officers from the Mount Vernon Police District have arrested a man from New York in connection with a series of package thefts in Annandale and Springfield. On June 25, just before 1 p.m., a patrol supervisor observed a man riding an electric scooter along Sherwood Hall Lane in Hybla Valley. The individual matched the description of a suspect wanted for multiple package thefts in the area.
The officers stopped the man in the 7900 block of Richmond Highway, identifying him as Luis Sena, 25, of New York. Sena was subsequently arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Fugitive from Justice. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Detectives are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact the West Springfield Police Station at 703-644-7377 to speak with a detective. In related news, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in stealing packages from porches in Annandale and Springfield. On June 17 at 10:30 a.m., officers responded to Alberta Street in Springfield regarding a theft report where an unknown suspect stole a delivered package and fled on an electric scooter.
Later that day at 3:37 p.m., another theft was reported on Shelley Lane in Annandale under similar circumstances. Detectives believe both incidents involve the same suspect and have taken over the investigation.
Detectives request any information related to these incidents be directed to the West Springfield Police Station or submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers using previously mentioned methods.
