Northern Virginia is a major contributor to the state’s economy, accounting for more than 40% of the region’s economic activity and almost half of Virginia’s tax revenue. As federal spending patterns shift, local business leaders are considering strategies to sustain Northern Virginia’s economic strength.

Julie Coons, who serves as president and CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber (NVC), appeared with Fairfax County Executive Bryan Hill on the September episode of “Connect with County Leaders.” The discussion focused on both the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in the area.

“Northern Virginia is the economic center of the DMV,” Coons said. “It’s an exciting place to be to represent all employers, businesses — large and small, philanthropists, philanthropic organizations, our academic institutions.”
