Police investigate fatal pedestrian crash in Annandale

Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit of the Franconia Police District are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Annandale. The incident occurred on February 28 at approximately 5:37 p.m. on John Marr Drive, between Backlick Road and Ravensworth Road.

According to police, the driver of a 2012 BMW was heading westbound on John Marr Drive toward Ravensworth Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as Sun Hyo Kim, 56, of Annandale, was crossing from the south side to the north side of the road at the time she was hit.

Kim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The driver of the BMW was not injured and stayed at the scene after the crash.

Police have stated that alcohol does not appear to be involved in this case. The role of speed is still being examined as part of their ongoing investigation.

Tipsters using these methods may be eligible for cash rewards if they provide information that helps with the investigation.
