Amy Briggs is preparing for her 34th first day of school at Spring Hill Elementary School, where she currently serves as principal. Briggs began her association with the school as a kindergartener and attended through sixth grade. She recalls feeling supported and part of a community during her years as a student. “I always felt that I belonged here and that I was safe,” Briggs said. “I felt supported, cared for, and a part of a community that I loved so much.”

Her experiences as a student inspired her to pursue teaching at Spring Hill. “I knew I always wanted to be a teacher at Spring Hill so that I could help my students feel the same way about the school as I did,” she said. “I loved coming to school every single day, and I find so much joy in watching our learners eagerly coming into the building each day.”

Briggs began her career at Spring Hill as a substitute teacher for her former sixth grade teacher before completing her student teaching there. She later worked as a fifth grade teacher, then served as the school’s technology specialist and assistant principal before being named principal in 2023.

In an announcement regarding her appointment, it was stated: “Amy has worked throughout her career as an educator at Spring Hill to demonstrate that same level of love, compassion, and commitment to every child and family member with whom she interacts.”

Looking ahead to the new academic year, Briggs said: “I believe that it is such an honor to be able to be a part of helping students grow.”
