Capital Garage Work Being Conducted at Fairfax Regional Library Through Dec. 22

12

Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 18

Patrons of the City of Fairfax Regional Library and Old Town Fairfax will notice construction at the library through Dec. 22. Fairfax County is conducting necessary capital garage work.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Parking garage ramp concrete repairs at Old Lee Highway will be conducted Nov. 15-29. The library parking garage will be closed during this time.
    • REMINDER: There are numerous free city parking options surrounding the library. Library patrons may use the free parking garage at Old Town Plaza, accessible from University Drive and Route 123/Chain Bridge Road, as well as other free parking in Old Town Fairfax. Click here to view the Old Town parking map.
  • Surrounding sidewalks will remain open for use, but plaza-level planters on Old Lee Highway and North Street side will be fenced off (with orange construction fence) for the duration of the project. Please use caution in these areas.
  • Drive aisle closures to replace pipe runs will take place 7-10 a.m. weekdays. Pipe riser locations will be fenced off.  These areas will require closure of several parking spaces in the surrounding garage area.
  • There will be dust and noise generated from jack hammering, drilling, and other construction equipment and activities.
The library remains open during this time. Please remain vigilant when traveling around this area.

The work is expected to be completed Dec. 22, weather permitting. Dates are subject to change. Information: email, 703-385-7855.
