Inova Reactivates Emergency Status as COVID-19 Cases Rise

27

Inova Fairfax Hospital issued the following announcement on Jan. 4

In response to increasing COVID-19 cases and patient volumes, effective at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, Inova reactivated its “emergency status.”  The decision to activate emergency status allows us the flexibility to adapt our standard operations as needed in this dynamic and evolving environment.

As part of this activation, Inova has reopened its COVID-19 Coordination Center and hospital command centers, which are staffed seven days a week with a multidisciplinary team of clinical, infection prevention, emergency management and other team members key to Inova’s continued, coordinated response to the pandemic.

Our patients can be assured that Inova is equipped to handle the current surge, as we have done over the past two years, and we have the resources to continue providing seamless, world-class care to our community.

In the meantime, we need the community’s support: please get vaccinated and, if eligible, boosted for COVID-19, and continue to practice safety measures including indoor masking and social distancing. In addition, do not come to the Emergency Room for COVID-19 testing if you are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms as we are prioritizing patients with more critical medical needs.
